But you see the passage, the opening, the light on the other side.
This was Bike Odyssey.
Not just a race.
Not just a route.
But a battle with the impossible. A battle with yourself.
The Dream Born in Pindos
In 2007-2008, it was just an idea.
A dream that everyone said could never come true.
There were no major sponsors.
There was no financial support.
There was no one saying "yes, this can happen."
There was only me.
And a crazy vision: To cross the entire Pindos mountain range on a bike.
600 kilometers.
50 villages.
22,000 meters of elevation gain.
Ten days in the mountains.And no one believed we could make it.
The Journey of Overcoming Limits
Everyone else stopped.
Everyone said it was impossible.
But I kept going.
Marking 100 km per day.
Photographing, filming, documenting.
Carrying athletes' luggage, running everywhere.
Doing everything, alone.And when Alkis joined, he became my advisor, my companion, the one who helped bring this to life.
In 2013, the dream became reality.
But at a huge cost.
It wasn’t just difficult.
It was brutal.
Every meter of the trail was pain, struggle, sweat, exhaustion.
Every night, you didn’t know if you could get up the next morning.
Every dawn, you were ready to quit.
But you didn’t.
Because somewhere in the mud, the cold, the high altitudes, in the wilderness… something magical was born.
Ten Days, Ten Years of Life
When Bike Odyssey stopped in 2019,
I knew I had to let it go.
The pandemic hit,
the exhaustion became overwhelming,
and ten days in the mountains felt like ten years.
But here’s something I know…
If you asked me if I miss it, I’d say no.
If you asked me if I’d do it again, I’d say no.
But if I knew it could happen under the right conditions, with everything I’ve learned in these 16 years, with total safety for the athletes…
Then YES. I would do it again.Because where others see the end, you see a new beginning.
Because where others say "it’s impossible," you say "it’s possible."
Because where others stop, you move forward.
