A very interesting race took place during the 4th Stage of Bike Odyssey 2019. This Stage had from the very beginning all the qualities that would make the race quite spectacular. On the one hand, it was the second longest stage of the race (115 km) and on the other hand it was the only stage, where only one race – the nine days race – was taking place.
The 9-days race athletes started dynamically, and for over 20 kilometers there were 10 teams riding within a few minutes apart from each another. Nevertheless, this large ten-team group was soon afterwards divided into distinct subgroups, within each one interesting contests occurred for the best placing in the podium.
This first subgroup was composed by teams AVRA (of Souvatzoglou Grigoris and Kourmpetis Anestis) and Bikeboard.at (of Rene Reidinger and Christian Meyer). The team of the Greek athletes was in the lead throughout the race but could not get a clear lead ahead of Bikeboard.at. The team of the Austrian and Swiss reporters was close-by for more than eighty kilometers, and seemed ever so capable of ending the reign of AVRA’s consecutive victories.
Eventually, team AVRA won first place, since they picked up the pace shortly after the 3rd checkpoint, escaping from its followers, leaving the Bikeboard.at for yet another stage in second place.
In the first kilometers of the race several other teams where on the verge of a glorious contest for the 3, 4, 5 and 6 positions. The SCHC TEAM POLAND team (of Baran Marcin and Fidytek Tomasz) was in third place and until the first half of the race seemed capable of claiming even one of the leading two places. At the same time, the Polish athletes were constantly feeling the pressure of the teams Feels good like a MTF ( of Fraile Luis and Amorrich Julian) and Beastie Bikerz Masters (of Wolfgang Faßbender and Thomas Wimmer). Eventually, the Polish team won the third place, as well as a good lead for the third position in the General Ranking along with it.
The Feels good like a MTF and Beastie Bikerz Masters teams were offering us arguably the most interesting battle, as they were constantly competing with one another for the lead, while continuously applying pressure on the SCHC TEAM POLAND team. The two teams were riding together throughout the race and finished practically together, with the Feels good like a MTF team winning the 4th place and the Beastie Bikerz Masters winning the 5th place.
This way, the final day of Bike Odyssey 2019 was finally completed. From the next day, the race is slowly entering its final half part with the entry of the teams of the 4-days South Race, while the 9-day Race teams prepare for their last four battles for the Overall Classification.
Bellow are listed the results of today’s Stage, as well as those of the so far Overall Classification.
