The 1st Stage of Bike Odyssey 2019 was marked by interesting duels, extreme weather, unexpected occurrences and bad weather. In the 9-days race we had a big first duel between the teams AVRA and BikeBoard.at, with the second one facing a technical problem after the 2nd checkpoint and the first exploiting that problem and winning the blue jersey of the leader for themselves.

In the 4-days North race, the two teams of the Greek National Team left us with strong impressions and created a big difference between themselves and the other athletes of the 4-days North race.

Below them, we had yet another battle for the 1st place, with the NoLifers team winning 1st place in the Open Category of the 4-days North race with a mere seconds difference!

9 day Race

More specifically, the teams that competed for the first place for the 9-days race were the AVRA team of Souvatzoglou Grigoris and Kourmpetis Anestis and the Bikeboard.at team of Rene Reidinger and Christian Meyer. Up until the middle of the Stage, the two teams competed with one another, having a mere seconds difference in two consecutive checkpoints. However, somewhere before the third checkpoint, the Bikeboard.at team encountered a technical problem, was forced to stop, and therefore was left behind in the race for the blue jersey.

In the end, the AVRA team won first place, with a difference of over 20 minutes from the second SCHC TEAM POLLAND of Baran Marcin and Fidytek Tomasz. The team from Poland was moving steadily in the third place of the race, passed over the Bikeboard.at team when that team encountered a technical problem, they lost that second place, but eventually managed to move higher than their competitors and earn a place on the 2nd tallest stage of the pedestal.

The Bikeboard.at team eventually settled for the third place, having left many, however, promises for the continuation of the race.

Behind the first three teams another interesting battle was taking place for the 4th and 5th place. The main competitors were the ProTrener team of Novikova Anna and Zamotin Oleg, and the Beastie Bikerz Masters team of Tommas Wimmer and Wolfgang Fassbender. A little after the 2nd checkpoint, the ProTrener team gradually created a difference to win the 4th place at the end of the 9-days race.

In the race for the 6th place, the teams competing with one another seemed to be the Heroes & Zeros team of Toulouhas Giorgos and Dudek Bo, and the LYON MOUNTAIN TRAI team of Boubidi Claude and Robin Deviraux. However, the one that eventually won 6^th place was the Feels good like a MTF team of Ammorich Julian and Fraile Luis, leaving behind them the Heroes & Zeros team at 7th place.

4 days Race

In the 4-days race, those who had taken a significant lead from the get go were the Greek National Team teams, who won 1st and 2nd place for the 4-days North race.
The athletes of the Greek National Team made a very dynamic appearance and showed us from the start that a great distance separates them from the other athletes of the 4-days race.

Periklis Ilias and Antoniadis Dimitris won the 1st place, and over 20 minutes later Mola Amet Alli Oglou and Tsortoukidis Ilias crossed the finish line in second place.

The Race for the first place in the Open 4-days races

The Nolifers tream of Kalampalikis Dimitris and Michailidis Ioannis and the ACTION BIKE CLUB-SIS team of Voudouris Euripides and Zoumboulis Vasilis competed for the 1st place in the 4 days North Open Race. The two teams raced practically together for the biggest part of the race. Eventually the 1st first place for the Open category was taken by the NoLifers team with only a few seconds apart.

In Conclusion, this is how the 1st Stage of the Bike Odyssey 2019 was completed. What we are left with at the end of the second day of Bike Odyssey 2019 are dynamic appearances, the emergence of strong duels and a promise that this year's event may end up more exciting than ever before!
