The change of the 9-days race for UCI athletes into two 4-stages races has been officialized, as shown by the World Cycling Federation calendar.
As reported in a previous post on our website, the Bike Odyssey 2019 organization had decided to make a change in the form of the race, and in particular to change the 9-days for UCI athletes race into two 4-stage races.
We remind you that with this change, the first 4 stages of the original 9-days for UCI athletes race will take place as one race, while the last 4 stages of the original 9-days for UCI athletes race will be held as a 2nd race.
This way, Bike Odyssey 2019 will include two separate races for athletes registered in the UCI , who will now have the following options:
- Participate in the 4-days North Race
- Participate in the 4-days South Race
- Participate in both races
This is a very interesting development, as professional athletes will have the flexibility to
- either take part in one of the two races and get to know the event for the first time
- either to go after DOUBLE THE POINT BENEFIT, by participating in two different races, while experiencing what "Bike Odyssey" really is all about, taking part in almost all stages of the race, with a one-day break on the fifth day of the event, between the two races.
* This change only applies to athletes for UCI races. The OPEN races (9-days, 4-days North, 3-days South) remain unchanged.
