The bad weather redefines the race!
The route has been redesigned due to current weather conditions, resulting in a significantly shorter distance between the first two checkpoints, thus changing the situation and raising the stakes.
Mossoczy Zbigniew - Maciejowski Przemyslaw (BikeBoard) of the 8Day race were the first to cross the 1st checkpoint, closely followed by Kalogeropoulos and Papanikolaou (Pedal Force One). Tsoulouhas – Sotiriou (Best Men) rode through 2 minutes later, in the third place.
14 minutes later the Poles rode through the 2nd checkpoint, maintaining their lead, followed by Pedal Force One and Best Men, who are now gaining on the former. The two leading teams were similarly competing for the first place on the previous days of the race, but Pedal Force One was finally victorious in both stages. On a different note, Best Men took third position on the first day of the race, but remained outside the top six teams, on the following day.
Kouprizas - Evaggeliou (Night Riders) have once again taken the lead of the 3Day North race, while Tzafos and Zylis (ProbikeShop) are on their heels (30” difference at the 1st checkpoint), and Petridis – Drougias (Protect Aoos animalrights) further behind.
The three teams crossed the 2nd checkpoint 14 minutes later in similar order, yet Petridis – Drougias have fallen 30” behind.
As a reminder, Night Riders have been consecutively the winners of all previous stages, and ProbikeShop also finished in top three positions, whereas Protect Aoos animalrights won 3rd place on the first day, but fell to fifth position on the second.
Based on the current developments and the positions of the top teams, it becomes obvious that the redesigned route, combined with steady rainfall that corrodes the ground, increase the difficulty and alter the race’s conditions.
