Bike Odyssey 2018 has launched in the best possible way. Despite initial concerns for heavy rainfall, the weather turned out to be a great ally, allowing the participants to perform admirably, satisfying the public with their achievements.

The first day of Bike Odyssey was of great interest, but also involved substantial suspense, with several twists and turns, keeping all the spectators on their toes in anticipation of further developments.

Specifically: Shortly after the start, a group of athletes formed out, gradually gaining distance from the rest, and aiming at the first places from the very beginning.

The athletes who crossed first the first checkpoint were Kouprizas Vasilis and Evaggeliou Konstantinos (Night Riders - 3day North), with Papasavvas and Chrysafellis (Dynamic - 3day North), and Mossoczy Zbigniew and Maciejowski Przemyslaw (BikeBoard - 8days) following closeby. Pedal Force One (Kalogeropoulos Grigoris, Papanikolaou Konstantinos - 8days), Protect Aoos Animal Rights (Petridis Theodoros, Drougias Chronis - 3days north) and Probike Shop (Zylis Petros, Tzafos Spyridon - 3days north) formed the rest of the leading pack.

A great battle was carried out in the early phase of the 8days race between the Bike Board (Mossoczy Zbigniew, Maciejowski Przemyslaw) and Pedal Force One (Kalogeropoulos Grigoris, Papanikolaou Konstantinos) teams. Bike Board was in the lead, with Pedal Force One on its tail. However, an unfortunate flat tire caused them the lead!!!

Subsequently, the first team who rode through the 2nd checkpoint were the Night Riders, of Kouprizas Vasilis and Evaggeliou Konstantios holding the lead. The Dynamic (Papasavvas and Chrysafellis - 3days north) and Pedal Force One (Kalogeropoulos Grigoris, Papanikolaou Constantinos - 8days) teams followed closely, with the leaders increasing the difference to seven minutes after the second checkpoint, and the third team gaining on the second ones.

The struggle continued with ceaseless interest; just ten minutes before the five-hour race, Kouprizas Vasilis and Evaggeliou Konstantinos (Night Riders - 3days north), crossed the third checkpoint. Pedal Force One (Kalogeropoulos Grigoris, Papanikolaou Konstantinos - 8-day), now on the second place, constantly increased their pace, threatening the leaders and leaving Papasavvas - Chrysafellis (Dynamic) behind.

Eventually, fortune was on the side of Pedal Force One, as Night Riders lost the lead due to flat tire, simultaneously losing the first position in GC. Pedal Force One crossed the finish line with 6:05:55 and won first place in both GC and the 8days race, along with the blue jersey. Night Riders ensued in second place overall with 6:08:41, winning the first place in the 3-day North race at the same time.

In conclusion, the first day of the Bike Odyssey 2018 was completed successfully, leaving great expectations for the days to come. The positions of the teams per race are listed below:
