The National Team and the AVRA team impressed us in the 4-days race, and 9-days race respectively!
With the Conclusion of the 4-days North race and the closing of its first big leg was completed the fourth day of Bike Odyssey 2019. On one hand, we had the finalization of the 4-days North General Classification, with the Greek National Team impressing once more with its dynamic performance!
On the other hand we saw team AVRA setting itself up as the big favorite to win the blue jersey in the 9-days race. The team of Souvatzoglou Grigoris and Kourmpetis Anestis stepped it up from the 3rd checkpoint on and increased the difference from its hunters from six to 15 minutes, taking its third consecutive victory in four stages of race and raising its lead in the General Classification

The AVRA team (of Souvatzoglou Grigoris and Kourmetis Anestis) imposed its rhythm from the very beginning, took the lead early on and held the first place till the very end. Team Bikeboard.at (of Rene Reidinger and Christian Meyer) was following, being only a few minutes behind team AVRA, as well as the main competiton for the first place, up to the second checkpoint. From this point onwards, however, team AVRA started raising its rhythm and began increasing the gap, winning the stage with an over 15 minutes lead ahead of the second team.
Team Bikeboard.at (of Rene Reidinger and Christian Meyer) was consistently following in second place throughout the race, trying to put the pressure on the leaders of the General Ranking. However they never managed to close the distance and began to lose contact with the first place shortly after the second checkpoint, resulting in taking second place for yet another stage.
The Polish SCHC POLAND TEAM (of Baran Marcin and Fidytek Tomasz) won the third place for this stage, proving themselves once more as the kind of calming force of the 9-days race.
The Heroes & Zeros team (of Toulouhas Giorgos and Dudek Bo) tried to pull the big surprise of the stage, by arriving third on the 1st checkpoint, only a breathing distance behind the team Bikeboard.at. From this point on the Heroes & Zeros team tried to keep on the pursuit for the second place, but they leventually fell behind, and settled for the fourth place. The Heroes & Zeros team tries to get into the game for the second and third places for the second consecutive day, and its performance in this race is starting to make us curious of how the next stages may actually unfold.
The epilogue of the 4-days North race and the emphatic victory of the Greek National Team
With yet another dynamic and impressive performance, the Greek National Team completed the 4-days North race. The two teams of the Greek National Team were steadily in the first places of the Stage's cyclists, creating a clear distance from the other athletes of the 4-days race, winning the first and second place of the race.
The team of Periklis Ilias and Antoniadis Dimitris won first place and the team of Tsortoukidis Ilias and Molla Amet Ali Oglou won second place. Those teams won the same places in the General Classification of the 4-days Race, concluding a set of amazing performances in four days of cycling.
The Conclusion of the 4-days North Race for the athletes of the Open Category
With regards to the Open Category of the 4-days North race, the last day included an interesting duel of four teams, the No Lifers team (of Kalabalikis Dimitris and Michailidis Ioannis), the ACTION BIKE CLUB-SIS team (of Voudouris Euripidis and Zoumbouli sVasilis), the Halkisad team(of Dagopoulos Panagiotis and Dusan Turkulov) and the Gatsoulis-Orbea (of Karametos Dimitris and Dimopoulos Thomas). The ACTION BIKE CLUB-SIS remained steadily in the lead throughout the race, feeling however always the presence of another team behind its back, while the other three teams were changing places constantly in the rankings bellow.
Eventually, the ACTION BIKE CLUB-SIS won first place, followed by No lifers, Halkisad and Gatsoulis-Orbea in that row.
Despite the victory of the ACTION BIKE CLUB-SIS team, the No Lifers team won the first place of the General Classification, followed by ACTION BIKE CLUB-SIS and Halkisad in second and third place respectively.
This is how the fourth day of Bike Odyssey 2019 arrived at the conclusion of its first leg. The country's largest mountain biking event is slowly entering its second leg with the entry of the 4-days South race two days from now.
At the same time, the nine-days race seems to hide pleasant surprises from stage to stage, provoking and demanding our interest each and every day with new unexpected developments.
