First place for BikeBoard in the 3rd stage of the 8-days race!
Another exciting day is successfully completed for the Bike Odyssey 2018. In the third stage of the race, Bike Board of Mossoczy Zbigniew and Maciejowski Przemyslaw won first place in the 8-days race.
The Night Riders were the winners of the third stage of the 3-days race, winning at the same time first place in the overall classification of the race, after three wins out of three stages accompanied by an excellent appearance.
With the route changing due to weather conditions, the first two check points of today’s stage were placed very close to each other. The combination of rainy weather, the smaller than planned distance and the muddy terrain in an already difficult route, managed to affect the balances to date and increased significantly the interest.
Regarding the 8-days race, the battle for the first place was once again fought mainly betwenn Mossoczy Zbigniew-Maciejowski Przemyslaw (BikeBoard) and Kalogeropoulos Ppanikolaou (Pedal Force One). However, the blue jersey changed hands and moved to BikeBoard .
More specifically, the Poles were the first to pass by the first checkpoint, with Pedal Force One being a minute and a half behind them. Tsoulouhas and Sotiriou (Best Men) were in third place two minutes behind. In fourth, fifth and sixth place were Samoladas - Fragoulis (Vita4you.gr), and by Christou – Cole (Animal Rights) and De Bock Wim - Lope Pieter (Ekopak Warriors 1).
Fourteen minutes later, BikeBoard passed by the second checkpoint, remaining in the lead, with Pedal Force One still on their tail. Best Men, picking up their pace, reduced the gap to a minute and aimed for second place. A few seconds later, Ekopak Warriors 1 had moved up to fourth place having Animal Rights right behind them. Vita4you.gr were left behind, and the first places of the stage would now be judged among those teams.
In the final part of the stage, Mossoczy Zbigniew-Maciejowski Przemyslaw (BikeBoard) grew their lead and eventually won with an eight-minutes difference over the second Pedal Force One, emerging victorious from their rivalry with Kalogeropoulos-Papanikolaou for the first time in three days. De Bock Wim and Loose Pieter (Ekopak Warriors 1) finished in third place, moving up steadily throughout the race, overcoming Tsoulouhas and Sotiriou (Best Men) and leaving them in fourth place. They even managed to get close to second place, behind Papanikolaou-Kalogeropoulos, but they were not able to overtake them, for a matter of seconds.
The Northern three-days race is officially complete.
The northern three-days race of Bike Odyssey 2018 is, as of today, officially complete. The Night Riders of Koupizras and Evaggeliou were the winners of the event.
In particular, the Night
Riders had already taken an early lead in today’s stage, with Tzafos and Zylis (ProbikeShop) following them in less than 30 seconds behind, as they were passing by the first checkpoint, while Petridis-Drougias (Protect Aoos animalrights) followed behind in third place.
The race continued and eventually ended with this ranking remaining throughout the race in the top three positions, with Kouprizas Vasilis and Night Riders maintaining their lead, confirming their dominance from the previous stages and taking the overall win.
Thus, the northern threes-day race adventure of Bike Odyssey 2018 came to an end. Kouprizas Vasilis and Evaggeliou Konstantinos (Night Riders) won first place in the GC by winning in all three stages. ProBike Shop team of Tzafos Spyridon and Zylis Petros won second place, while Papasavvas Michalis and Apostolos Chrysafellis of Dynamic team won third place in the overall ranking. The race was entertaining from start to finish and compensated the friends of cycling - but also all sports fans in general - who chose to watch it live through our website.
Over the next few days the next stages of the eight-days race will be held, and we are looking forward to the arrival of the Bike Odyssey 2018 southern three-days race.
